Kabita A. Sharma new president of South Asian University

NEW DELHI, NOV 07 - The South Asian University (SAU) has appointed new President Kavita A. Sharma. Academician Sharma had previously worked as principal at Hindu College.

Sharma was appointed as SAU president on 3rd November, 2014. She was appointed by the Governing Board of the university as per its rules.

SAU has the students from Saarc member nations who are pursuing studies with hostel facilities. The University established in 2010 now offers post-graduate and doctoral programmes in 14 different disciplines including Sociology, Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, law, among others.

The university, which currently operates from Akbar Bhawan in New Delhi, India, will shift in its own well-facilitated building. The government of India, as per the agreement between Saarc nations, has allocated 100 acre premises for the construction of the university building in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi.

Currently 400 students are studying in the university. More then 30 Nepali students have been obtaining education at the university.
