KATHMANDU: Responding to Chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Lokman Singh Karki's argument that the CIAA falls under the jurisdiction of Parliamentary Committee on Good Governance and Monitoring only, Finance Committee today said that all parliamentary committees are sovereign and they can summon and seek clarification from officials if need be.

It has referred to the Article 127 of Constituent Assembly (Legislature-Parliament Working Procedure) Regulation to dismiss the anti-graft chief's argument, which was an indication of his reluctance to show up at House committees to forge clarification over the CIAA's activities that allegedly are beyond its jurisdiction.

Karki had appeared at the Finance Committee's meeting on Wednesday.
